Chicopee Hexie Quilt Update: I worked on basting and sewing hexies while on vacation a few weeks ago. I’ve done only a few since I’ve been back (since I’ve been so busy with Art Walk). Yesterday I pulled everything out to lay it all out and take stock of what I have left to do, and do a bit of sewing.

I’ve hand-stiched some hexies into short strips so far (in the first picture), but there’s still more than half left to do. Yup, it’s a lot of hexies: 216, to be exact! But it should be 220. I somehow ended up short on the last design, farthest to the right in the last picture (called “circle cross red”). Good thing it’s still in stock at Mad About Patchwork!

I’m planning to finish hand stitching all of these together, then I’ll add some Kona Natural on the left and right sides to make it a little wider.

Linking up with WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.

Cakes I Made:

Bumblebees for Nadia!

Fun fact: I asked another decorator if I should add stingers to the bees and she said, “No, bees are nice!” I couldn’t agree more!

Shoutout to one of my oldest boos Cierra, the original lover of bees and my inspiration for anything bee-themed that I do.
